Kerbside rat..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Excuse the drowned rat appearance, I can assure you I attempted to 'do' my hair before I went out. Though it tends to resume its default bird nest look after about three drinks or so. I believe the look on my face is a result of my boyfriend informing me of the name of my drink- escort. Sacrebleu!

If you squint really hard, you'll be able to see the dark yellow polish from my previous post. I've decided I do like it. Although it reminds me of McDonalds and everytime I glance at my hands I get a hankering for french fries.

Just in case you're wondering where this photo was taken, it's from Kerbside Bar on Saturday night. If you're in Brisbane you must go. They furnished the bar with seats/couches that they picked up from the footpath. It doesn't sound too appealing, but trust me it's really fun. They even have a swing chair..

AA polishes..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Here are a few polishes that I grabbed from American Apparel while I was in Vancouver. The darker yellow resembles baby food to me. Although my boyfriend seemed to be rather enamoured with it, so I decided to give it a whirl..

Sorry for being really lazy with blogging lately. To be honest, I can't do "outfit posts" because I'm back to my usual schedule which involves me sitting for 10 hours a day in front of my computer in my lovely house clothes. You don't want to see this!

Tomorrow I'm joining my local library and need some recommendations for good fiction books. I usually only read non-fiction, so I'm a bit lost as to good fiction reads?

Lola's Mood Board:March

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So the other day I was feeling rather sluggish, a little lost about how I was going to approach a few projects and just generally like things were going over my little head. All in all, that morning I was very unproductive.

So I grabbed my empty pin board, a stack of Frankie, Shop til you drop and Vogue magazines and started cutting. It was very cathartic piecing together this fairy floss theme. It really helped me with Wikifashion and I had a very productive afternoon. What do you like to do when you have a brain block?

Let them eat cake ♥

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I love ostentatious jewellery, it's so far removed from my quiet personality. I think it really helps to show my creative side, the side that loves colour, feminine things and anything happy. This piece of jewellery was purchased in 2008 from a department store in Tokyo. After returning to Ginza to attempt the queue at LADURÉE for the third and final time, I promtly gave up when I saw the line curl around and around the third floor.

As we walked back to our hotel, we visited another department store, the name of which escapes me now. Inside, I found this cute little macaron necklace. It was like my consolation for not having tried a real one. It's strawberry, pink, sparkly goodness is now forever etched in my trinket box.

From my travels...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Whenever I go away, I like to buy a Babushka doll. I don't know how that tradition came about, but now it's a nice little thing to do. The first isn't from my travels, but was a present from my mother. The second was my first Babushka doll that a bought on my 21st birthday from a little shop in Melbourne.

My favourite, is the third. He originally lived on Miyajima Island in Japan. This island is inhabited only by deer. They wander the streets, searching for silly tourists like me to feed them. The last doll, lives on a fob chain, that has been in my family for over 60 years.

As I mentioned in a previous post, my brother is moving to Denmark for seven months, he has kindly offered to buy me a few more for my collection!

What are your holiday traditions? I know the lovely Porcelain Blonde takes a candle with her whenever she travels.... (such a gorgeous tradition ♥)

Love Mail...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I think I've said before how much I adore Kikki K. Well now it's possible that I love it even more. After browsing the online store, I came across the adorable "Love Mail" reusable bag in the coming soon section. For AU$9.95, I don't think I will be able to resist it! It will be a gorgeous addition to the Lola office. What are your favourite reusable bags. Feel free to link to sites below ♥

Peppermint Patty

This is my favourite nail polish. It is Sportsgirl's "Apple". Although it is a little streaky to apply, with some perseverance it has quite a good colour pay off. Also it is a good substitute for Chanel's Jade green polish.

Fendi Bicycle

Thanks to the Joelle from Hello,Lovely I now need this very pretty, yet overpriced bike. Even if I did own this beauty, I'm not sure I could even bring myself to use it. I would probably be like a crazy neighbour I once had, who polished his red convertible every night and never actually drove it! Maybe I should stick to my first love?

Get on your bike....

I love this photo, everything about it is so pretty! The bow, fringe, red lips, geek glasses and especially my future bike.

Love Letters....and presents

Photobucket

I was very fortunate to receive a couple of very lovely gifts from my boyfriend this Christmas. My favourite is a book, Love Letters of Great Men by John C. Kirkland. This is the same book that Carrie read in the Sex and the City movie when she is in bed with Big. It is such a fascinating read, exploring the relationships between history figures and their loves. The letters are also accompanied with a summary about the fate of the couples.

I also received a movie that I have been trying to find for around ten years, Love Letter, directed by Shunji Iwai. Can you see a theme here? It is a really beautiful Japanese movie about a young woman who loses her husband suddenly and then spontaneously decides to write a letter to him only to receive a reply by a young woman by the same name.

The Ramen Girl

I mentioned in a previous post that I watched the Ramen Girl and had an instant craving to cook ramen for myself. This movie was really touching, normally I adore any movie that is set in Japan/Tokyo. The movie could have been set anywhere and it would have been just as mesmerising, I think watching Brittany Murphy's character become the best person she could was very inspiring and uplifting. If you have the chance to watch this you should, it's not your typical chick flick by any means.

Bag Lady

Although I love pretty things, I'm the type of person who only has one bag that they use consistently for years and then one day just decides to get a new one, usually when the old one is on its last legs. I'd like to think of myself as a bag monogamist.

Since July 2007 my day bag has been a tan Mimco button bag. Think what you will about the ubiquitous bag, it holds a lot of junk. It has a sizeable main section, a phone pocket, large side pocket, two compartments at the front of the bag behind the buttons andit can also expand a little on each side with the twist of a clasp. You would think that the number of compartments would lend to more organisation on my part, but it doesn't really. I just tend to stuff more junk into it, often losing things only for them to inexplicably return one day to the inside pocket of my bag. Next year I hope I can acquire for myself a slightly smaller bag and have some semblance of organisation about it. I dream of being this type of bag lady.....

Revenge of the Nerds

Photobucket

Lately I have taken to playing Starcraft with my boyfriend, I don't know how exactly this happened, in the past I downright refused to play. I think it was somewhere between starting my own website and knowing the password for our secret torrent site off by heart. He assures me that it is a national sport in Korea and it's really not that geeky. Perhaps he's right and I should just let the nerd flow? Speaking of nerdy I need new glasses and I was thinking of purchasing either of these two pairs with my magical money. I can't decide.

Ruby Slippers

Photobucket

From as long as I can remember I've had an obsession with acquiring the perfect ruby slippers. These were my first pair (age 5). My last pair were destroyed by my puppy around three months ago. For my next pair, perhaps I can hunt these down.....

Do you remember when Carrie loses her necklace in series six of Sex and the City? I was almost as devastated as her. Although I usually try to avoid trends as it is a sure fire way of wasting money in the long term, I gave in and purchased a my name necklace. This is what my lovely boyfriend calls me. It's become quite a sentimental nickname for me now.

Beauty Essentials

Photobucket

Although I love acquiring pretty things, in terms of makeup and beauty products I am quite low maintenance. I think I am a true Cancer in that I love routine and hate change. With that said here are the few products that I have repurchased time and time again.

1. Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream- I keep this next to my bed and slather it on each night before I sleep.
2. OPI Big Apple- the quintessential red polish.
3. Lanolips in Apple- the most moisturising cherry lips you'll ever have.
4. Hot Mama, the Balm- apparently this is a dead ringer for Nars "Orgasm".
5. Mac "Petting Pink" balm- this is a lovely alternative for when I don't want something too bright.

I ♥ Frankie

Photobucket

These are some of my favourite photos from the new issue of Frankie magazine (Jan/Feb). I actually have the dress in the top right hand corner. But I haven't been able to bring myself to wear it yet, I just don't feel very good in it, it's probably because I'm a midget and it makes me look even more so :)
